Process blackberries in a blender until smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides. Pour through a wire-mesh strainer into a medium sauce pan, discarding solids. Stir in remaining ingredients; bring to boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Continue to boil for one minute. Remove from heat and cool. Serve with cobbler, pound cake, fresh blackberry fruit, pancakes or ice cream.
Yield: About 1 2/3 cups taking 10 to prepare and 5 minutes to cook.
